Each of us has a unique style and personality that we deeply desire to express.
In this age of big box retail, everything is a sea of vanilla and style has been watered down to "style in a box". You are made up of unique and individual elements. When we define those elements we create your Signature look, which will be celebrated and expressed in all you do: entertaining, gift giving, and home decor. We put your Signature on your life.
How do we go about creating your Signature style?
When I meet with a client for the first time, I immerse myself in their "culture" by asking a very specific set of questions. Clients come in with bits and pieces of ideas that reflect who they are and talk about the stirrings of their vision. It is my job to be a good listener and develop their vision into an event, identity, or brand that communicates their uniqueness loud and clear. I am awed by how the tiniest object or idea can become the heart of an event or identity.
By identifying their sources of inspiration, I can begin a creative process that is all about them. Whatever task is before me should bear their Signature, whether that is creating a unique look for a family identity, planning a special event or wedding, or developing a brand that sets a company or product apart.
I believe we can deconstruct or at least demystify the mechanics of the design process so that we can determine your own individual elements of design. By applying those elements to all the components of your life we can create your unique Signature look.
This brings me to my own personal 'creative library'. I keep loads of files, hundreds of photos, books, articles, and reams of clippings that embody my creative elements and ideas. I have two large boards in my office. One is my personal creative board and the other is filled with inspiring ideas and design elements that I keep as inspiration for future events.
My own sources of inspiration are at the heart and soul of what I do.
They range from the conceptual to the concrete and from the visual to the experimental, but each source sharpens my powers of observation, renews my creative energies, and generates a host of ideas. My sources are constant, continuing, and seemingly infinite. The engines of my creative process are what I am and what I bring to my work each day, with every client, and with every occasion, regardless of its size or scope. My sources of inspiration are my joy.
